Mr. Gandy died Saturday, March 13. Born in Society Hill, he was a son of the late Robert Manuel and Sallie Vista Linton Gandy. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bennettsville. Mr. Gandy was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II as a seaman first class. He received the American Area Camp Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Vera E. Smith of Bennettsville; sons, Samuel A. Chic Gandy Player and Wayne A. Gandy, both of Bennettsville, and James Deese of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Joyce McLendon of Bennettsville and Betty Boan of Cheraw; brothers, Brooks Edward Gandy of Darlington and Harvey Gandy of Society Hill; sisters, Catherine Hall and Myrtle Keith of Society Hill; 19 grandchildren and 17 great–grandchildren.
Mr. Gandy was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Manuel Gandy Jr. and Charles Gandy.

Edith Lurlene Gandy, 84, of Corsicana passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Ferman Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Campbell-Elrod Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Jones, Jake Hasek, Chris Abbe, David Abbe, Tim Easley and Johnny Easley.
Mrs. Gandy was born April 15, 1920, in Corsicana to Andrew Jackson Berryhill and Lillie Belle Adams Berryhill.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gandy; and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Jones of Ingleside and Vicki Hethcoat of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Flora Edwards of Corsicana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gandy was born March 21, 1950 in Odessa. He was supervisor for Price Security.
Mr. Gandy is survived by his mother, Edith Gandy of Corsicana; wife, Maxine Gorman Gandy of Corsicana; sons, Rene Gandy of El Paso, Lucky, Michael and Josh, all of Waco; sisters, Karen Jones of Ingelside, Texas and Vicki Hethcoat of Corpus Christi; and aunt, Flo Edwards of Corsicana.
